La BECA scholars currently come from Panama, Honduras, Bolivia, Belize, Nicaragua, and El Salvador, although la BECA is open to working with partner organizations and scholars in other countries in Central and South America. Scholars range from 1^st grade students to students in pre-professional programs in Universities in these countries. Scholarship amounts are determined by taking into account the scholar’s need after additional financial and scholarship aid is awarded.

With your help, over the last 19 years, la BECA has contributed more than $800,000 to 140 scholars in six countries (Honduras, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Belize, El Salvador, and Panama) to realize their dreams through education.
